Since COVID-19, our organization grew beyond responding to homelessness to providing housing stability, prevention, case management, and resources to help build long-term stability. Opportunity Alliance reflects who we are today, a broader organization focused on creating opportunities for individuals and families through ongoing community collaboration and direct client support

Opportunity Alliance of Southern Indiana’s Mission Statement:

EST 2026: Opportunity Alliance of Southern Indiana bring partners together to expand economic opportunity for individuals and families to overcome poverty. We do this by identifying resource gaps, amplifying community power, and advancing policies that support stable and equitable pathways to thriving futures.

Previous Mission Statement for The Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana:

Circa 2015: The Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana exists to address homelessness and its causes in the community by increasing advocacy and awareness, coordinating efforts, and influencing policy decisions. We work with local government, organizations, businesses, and other volunteers to streamline services to those homeless and at-risk of homelessness. Through strong relationships with our members, we work to minimize the time someone experiences homelessness in our community.

While our legal name, The Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana, and 501c(3) remain the same, our new name and D.B.A Opportunity Alliance of Southern Indiana says more about who we are now and our future.
